Well, Here We Go! 😅

Hi everyone! 👋🏻 If you don’t know me already, I guess I’ll introduce myself! My name is Lauren and I’m a 25 year old Baton Rouge native. I’ve been living on my own in a tiny one-bedroom apartment for close to a year now and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I have two little dogs here with me. The first is ChaChi, a 10 year old black and white Chihuahua who only weighs about 4 pounds if he had a big dinner. He has been with me for his entire life and he is what I call my "soul dog" because he is my soul mate in dog form. And the second is Yuki, a 5 month old white Pomeranian who is such a spaz. I’m a graphic designer/photographer/social media manager/whatever gets thrown my way today. Haha, I know that’s a mouthful, but when you're a creative you sometimes get signed up for projects all over the spectrum! What I do can’t be summed up with just “graphic designer/photographer” because I know I am so much more than that.

You may laugh at me, but I decided to start this blog because of a letter of recommendation. I know right?! A friend recently asked me to write a letter of recommendation for her to get a new job (fingers crossed!) and it was really hard to write. Not because I couldn't come up with nice things to say about her - she is an amazing person and is such a hard worker and always goes the extra mile. I struggled to write because my writing skills have really diminished over the years and I hadn’t even noticed.

Of course I can write an email, Instagram caption, or a really long-winded text, but those seem to be the only ways that I’m exercising any kind of creative writing skills I may have left. I had been thinking about starting a blog or vlogging for some time now since I already have the platform. I was recently asked to do my first “sponsored content” if you will - I was offered free products in exchange for me to post content on my IG stories leading up to an event and posting on the day of while I’m at the event to boost their exposure. So that counts, right?! I’m really excited about it, the event is tonight actually! And as far as my platform goes, I already have a website designed, all I have to do is add a page for “Blog” and it’s done.

So here we go, I’m doing the damn thing! Something about this feels so official, like I’m taking a big step. Because sure, I share my personal thoughts on Instagram and write some fairly long captions every now and then opening up about a topic, but this feels more personable and more intimate than just sharing my thoughts on social media. This feels like I’m actually getting my thoughts out on paper (or this computer screen).

But, I guess that’s it for today! Stay tuned for more blogs, I’m not even sure how often I’ll post these. Nonetheless, thank you so much for being here and getting to the end of this possibly scatter-brained blog, I really appreciate your support! 🤍
