About Me! 💁🏻‍♀️

Updated: Apr 28, 2023

I gave you a brief introduction of who I am in my first blog, but if you don’t know me I’m sure you’re asking yourself, “Who is Lauren?” I ask myself this question more often than you might think. Because I tend to mirror other people around me, it can be easy to get lost in other people’s ideas of who I am or who I should be. I’m actually very in tune with my own emotions and I can easily identify what is causing an emotional flare, but I am a huge people pleaser, which is probably where my mirroring trait comes from. I find it’s sometimes easier to make other people happy than to look inward and ask myself what actually makes ME happy. This is why I think one of the best decisions I ever made was to move out into my own place. I love my parents so much, but when you fall into a parent/child routine it’s not as easy to figure out your own path. So, here I am! A girl trying to find her own way in life and this past year has been such a learning curve but it has really been the best year yet.

So who am I? I’m a mom of two dogs and yes, I said ‘mom’ but it’s very true! They are my babies. Yuki is on the naughty list right now, unfortunately. His potty training is not going as well as ChaChi’s did at this age. ChaChi learned very quickly, but it seems like Yuki is just not taking the hint that peeing inside is a no-no. Fingers crossed it gets better after his neuter next month because I’m running out of patience! He’s lucky he’s cute. 😅 Unlike his younger brother, ChaChi is just a perfect baby. Like I said in my first blog, he is my soul dog. We just get each other. He likes to sleep in late with me on the weekends, unlike Yuki who starts fussing the moment the sun rises. (He’s getting better though!) ChaChi always wants cuddles and is the definition of a lap dog. We both thoroughly enjoy relaxing on the couch, preferably with a cup of coffee. Yuki has other plans for couch time because in his mind, couch time = drive mom insane time!

I am also the crazy plant lady. Some would say I have too many, but I think I’ve reached the perfect amount! I have a sweet little oasis on my balcony and some other plants inside that can handle lower light. I have only north-facing windows in my apartment, and if you know anything about house plants, you know north-facing is basically the worst possible direction to face because you don’t get any sort of direct light. I only get a tiny bit of direct sun early in the mornings in the summer since Louisiana is so far south and my apartment isn’t at a perfect northern angle. Sadly, the sun has already moved too far south for me to get any more direct light for the rest of the year. Luckily, my current plants seem to be pretty content with indirect light, but I did learn the hard way about a few plants who prefer more direct light (they died).

Photo of my balcony from below, you can see there is no shortage of plants and Yuki is being cute!

What else would you like to know about me? I’m a Capricorn Sun, Virgo Rising, and Pisces Moon, Enneagram 7, and an ENFJ (Extraverted – 53%, Intuitive – 70%, Feeling – 51%, Judging – 65%). So that should give you a pretty good understanding of my personality right? I enjoy reading my horoscopes as much as the next girl, but it doesn’t always line up. I listed all of these characteristics because I do relate to all of these on a certain level. But as you can see from my Myers-Briggs percentages, I’m not a textbook ENFJ. I’m almost an INTJ. Some days I’m extroverted and some days I’m introverted. You never know which one you’re going to get! Usually in a small setting with close friends, I’m perfectly at ease. But invite me to a large party with a bunch of people I don’t know? There’s a good chance I’ll probably be very quiet or maybe even flake. 🙃

I also have a tendency to say some really off-the-wall things that I fret over for months. No joke, I over analyze practically everything that comes out of my mouth. I’m constantly seeking other people’s approval, but I’ve just had to learn over the years that not everyone will have the same opinions or hobbies and it’s really okay for everyone to not all be the same! So I fully embrace my nerdy side! I play dungeons and dragons, I geek out over Disney and video games like Pokémon and Animal Crossing, and I read a borderline unhealthy amount of books about faeries and vampires. I like to cook and try new foods, but I also love a run to Chick-fil-A.

I like fashion, but mostly capsule wardrobe types of things. I like to be able to grab an outfit quickly without worrying if my pants and top go together. I occasionally gravitate towards a few trendy pieces, but I try to avoid trends as much as possible because I’ve overdone them in the past. You will never catch me in chevron or a mint green & coral combo ever again because they bring back too many memories of high school. Let’s not even talk about blanket scarves and stacked beaded bracelets! The amount of money I spent on those things is pretty sickening and they have all been sold/donated now. So I try to stick to basic, neutral colors and the “less is more” motto. Black and white will never go out of style (at least I hope not!) My uniform is a tee, mom jeans and sneakers. I’ll sometimes trade in my tee for a blouse or sweater (if Louisiana permits it). And my trusty white sneakers can be swapped out for a pair of booties or Dr. Martens. But other than that, my wardrobe is pretty basic!

Of course I could go on and on, but that’s me for the most part! I plan on doing a more in-depth dive into my career and what life looks like for me as an artist. I may also do a few series with tips and tricks in the graphic design world as well as social media and fashion content. As always, thank you for being here and listening to me ramble on here! Your support means everything to me! 🤍

Until next time!

XOXO, Lauren
